Fleetwood experienced a sudden decline in health in October, 2018; most likely from some form of cancer. I cherished all of our years together. Such a fun, grand boy. Together we learned so much.  During his last few weeks, I often reminded him of our adventures and of what a wonderful father, grand-sire and surrogate grampa, he was to many puppies and several breeds. Fleetwood passed quietly, at home, lying by my side.

Fleetwood is a very handsome, showy dude. In the ring, he has the most regal attitude of any dog I have ever shown.

More importantly, he has a lovely, sweet, reliable temperament!  You know how some ES are serious 'eyebrow workers'- Fleetwood is my blinker boy.  At the time that I bought Fleetwood, I wasn't really looking for a dog to purchase, although  I was in the midst of considering potential stud dogs for Abbott.  Then I saw Fleetwood's litter, and I fell in love with the puppy's classic looks.  I liked the substance and the bone of Fleetwood's litter, and I loved his head.

Fleetwood's sire, "London", Multi BISS CH Brasswinds Sonrise Ahhmen, is the only English Setter in the history of the breed ever to win the English Setter Association of America's National Specialty "Best in Futurity" as a puppy and Best of Breed the following year. London was a very classic type English Setter, a proven producer and the 2004 Top Producer.  Fleetwood's dam, Sera, is a real beauty too!  I am never less than proud or thankful to have his son, true to his father's form, as my #1 dude. See the link below for photos of Fleetwood's sire and dam!

So... Fleetwood came to Prairie Crest and then the "wait to see" how this boy would mature and what qualities would hold.  The qualities I was seeing were also those that I was looking for when planning Abbott's breeding.  As Fleetwood matured, I was and am still, delighted with how consistent his development was, and how he did not lose any of the qualities that he displayed as an eight week old puppy.

Among his list of qualities, Fleetwood has a beautiful, classic head with correct planes.  He is well balanced.  His topline is solid, with a correct tailset and carriage.  He has clean, beautiful movement coming and going, and he is very stylish in the ring!  Out of the ring, I have nicknamed him 'Mr. Miyagi'.  He tracks with complete intensity using all of his senses:  on sight, on scent, and on sound.  I think he will prove to be wonderful in the field as well!

Fleetwood finished his AKC and International Championships with very limited showing-- all within a year!    At 6 months and 23 days of age, he earned his International title (IACBA) with four SG-1 ratings.  He had a  Group 1 and three Group 2 wins.

A couple of weeks later, he won BOSS as the Puget Sound ES Specialty.  He has gone onto win another BOSS, Winners Dog, several WD/BOW/BOB and a WD/BOW/BOS.  On June 21, 2009-- Father's Day-- while Abbott whelped their Solstice litter, Fleetwood was showing at the Clackamas Kennel Club with Kerry Edinger as his handler.  This was the only time Fleetwood was not owner handled.  From the 12-18 month class, under Judge James Covey, Fleetwood won WD/BOW/BOB over Specials for a 5 point major. He needed only a 3 point major and a single point to finish his AKC Championship.

On August 15, 2009 under judge LaMar Mathis, Fleetwood earned a 3 point major.  He won Winners Dog, Best of Winners, then Best of Breed over a Specials dog.  Judge Mathis was very complimentary of Fleetwood, saying that he is a very nice, quality dog and that he would like to see more of that quality in English Setters.  Judge Mathis has been judging ES since before 1980.

On August 16, 2009 under judge Wendy Willhauck, Fleetwood again won WD/BOW/Best of Breed to finish his Championship!

Fleetwood returned to the ring in April, 2011.  He showed that weekend and another in May. In April, 2012, Fleetwood finished his Grand Championship title in a total of 8 shows, with 6 being Majors and 7 with Champions defeated!  O
nce again, the" Good News Guy" makes short work of most everything and I sure LOVE showing him!

On June 21, 2015, on the 7th birthday of Fleetwood's "Solstice 7" litter, he returned to the Willamette Valley English Setter Fanciers Specialty show ring at Canby, OR.  Awarded Veteran's BOSS, his daughter Izzy was awarded Select Bitch and his Grandson NEO was awarded Select Dog and became a Silver Grand Champion.

Mostly retired from the show ring, Fleetwood is quite busy between working birds daily, mentoring his ES grand-kids and being a great surrogate Grandpa to any up & coming pup in training.
